The Bowen Technique Overview

The Bowen Technique is a gentle, relaxing, hands-on treatment. It is said that this technique resets the body to heal itself. The Bowen technique doesn’t just treat the symptom but aims to balance the whole person. As it is a gentle and non-invasive treatment, it can be used on babies to the very ill and infirm and all those in between!

The series of moves used in the Bowen Technique over muscle and connective tissue prompt the brain to investigate any anomaly and to begin to heal itself. The treatment includes many pauses which are vital to allow the brain to evaluate and the body to adjust. The Bowen Technique is used by sports professionals both in times of injury to assist with healing and throughout their professions to keep their bodies balanced and operating optimally, aswell as manage stress. It is very helpful in dealing with a huge range of health issues such as back and neck pain, tennis elbow, acute and chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, asthma, digestive problems and infant colic. Stroke victims also respond very well to this treatment.

Lindsey Hanson has been a Bowen Technique practitioner for several years. She is an accredited graduate of The Bowen Research and Training Institute of Florida and of the European College of Bowen Studies in the U.K.. Fully committed to ongoing post graduate training, Lindsey is a member of the independent The Bowen Therapist European Register and follows their strict code of conduct and ethics.

  Back problem

  I have had an ongoing back problem for more years than I care to remember. A year ago I was going through a paricularly bad period. A friend recommended Bowen, I had never heard of it. I have been having treatment with Lindsey on and off for the last 10 months, I am greatly improved. Thank you so much Lindsey you have helped to give me back my quality of life. I would highly recommend this treatment.

  My stroke recovery

  I had a stroke at age 34. I had reached the period where nothing was progressing. Initially, I couldn't walk or use my arm. I had the motive to keep going as my baby was born 5 days before the stroke. I found a wonderful Bowen Therapist called Janet Graham. Since starting the treatment I have found that I can keep progressing through this difficult time. I would recommemd this treatment, sooner rather than later. It has only been 4 months since my stroke and I am doing very well.

  Tried all sorts of therapies for a problem with my sinuses nothing really worked but the second treatment was great and has cleared the problem. Also had an issue with my right shoulder, had being the operative word! Highly recommended. M

  I had hurt my neck / back a few months prior to my Bowen appoinment and Lindsey was very thorough - identifying where my problems had stemmed from. I was really impressed with the results. I would like to have further treatment but just haven't got round to it yet. All in all, I felt much better after having only one treatment!

  Whiplash

  I had ongoing pain from a whiplash injury after a bad car accident that just wouldnt go away. Lindseys treatment really worked and for the first time in a long while i was pain free afterwards. My insurance company has agreed to pay for 12 more physiotherapy sessions but I am going to ask for more Bowen treatments instead as this one session has been more successful than the previous course of 5 physio appointments.   Restricted Neck Movement

  Having suffered from very restricted neck movement for many years, I was absolutely delighted when Lindsey was able to return my neck to its former youthful glory. These days, I no longer have to twist my entire body onto one butt cheek in order to see where I'm going when I reverse my car - I just turn my neck. Amazing, thank you so very much Lindsey.

  Never heard of it until I read about it. Problems in my upper arm, not being able to lie on it and even painful when not using it. Limited range of movements. Improved dramatically after my first session. I had three more after that, and it improved even further. I am looking forward to some session in September. Thanks to Lindsay! Marijke
