The Black Stove Alvor Overview

The Black Stove Irish bar in Alvor opened its doors in 2005. Since then many a happy holiday maker has quenched his thirst, cheered his team, and tapped his foot to the great live music.
Alvor is one of the Algarve’s most popular tourist resorts. As an authentic algarvian fishing village turned holiday heaven it deserves an authentic irish bar – and that’s what it has in The Black Stove. Irish owned and run, the décor is classic Irish bar. The long wooden bar is conducive to rambling conversations with strangers and bartenders. The walls are adorned with a huge array of signed photos and the piano in the corner doesn’t get much chance to gather dust. Resident musician Keith takes centre stage each night with lively renditions of Irish, pop and rock classics.
Following in the best traditions of Irish bars the world over, The Black Stove extends a warm welcome to all nationalities and ages. All your favourite drinks are available served up with a smile and a chat. Food is served at The Black Stove all day – from snacks and sandwiches to full meals of chicken, fish or steaks. There is a downstairs games room (complete with cctv system) and several large screen TVs dotted around the bar. You can keep up with all the major sporting events here, including GAA fixtures and the main racing meets, should you fancy a flutter.
Having proven such a success in Alvor the Black Stove has expanded its operation to The Black Stove in Carvoeiro. Here the authentic Irish bar feel is complemented by the very algarvian sun-drenched upper terrace – the best of both worlds!

    Black Stove regular

    David Collier from Drogheda

I'm a regular visitor to Alvor and pretty much set up camp in the black stove. It strikes the right balance for me - good music with keith or whoever else happens to be on, warm welcoming staff, plenty of screens for sport or anything else and the food is good too

    Best of craic

    Jacqui Hanley from Northern Ireland

Have just returned from Praia do Vau, and travelled nightly into Alvor for restaurants, before finishing the nite in the Black Stove. Entertainment here was fantastic with the wonderful Keith, who not only catered for all tastes but was so keen on audience participation. He even managed to wow my 12 year old daugher, and this in itself was worth the trip!!!! Look forward to my next trip
