Nelitos Overview

Nelitos is not your average Italian restaurant. An evening here is an evening of fine dining in elegant surroundings punctuated by excellent service and wonderful food.

Located in a lovely garden villa, near to the Algarve resorts of Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago, Nelito´s opened its doors in May 2006. Husband and wife team Manuel and Linda Teixeira had previously owned two restaurants in the U.K. before opening in the Algarve. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. You enter Nelitos by the airy and spacious conservatory. Here a huge suspended cocktail glass serves as a central chandelier. You can choose to dine in the conservatory and enjoy the sense of space and light, or in the central dining room. Here the tables are spacious and set well apart, offering privacy to diners. The deep red of the seating is complemented by the artwork and the welcoming ambience is completed by the invitingly soft sofas in the lounge area. With the comfort of all their guests in mind, Nelitos also has a separate indoor smoking lounge. In the summer you can take full advantage of the fantastic Algarve evenings and dine outside on the garden terrace.

Once seated we were greeted by the Sommelier, who having deciphered what type of wine we would like, brought us a lovely drop of red from the Algarve region. Fresh catch of the day was brought to the table for viewing and also a choice of breads, with flavoured olive oils, crushed olives and ´flor de sal´ - an excellent start to what was to be an excellent meal. The menu provides the diner with a huge choice of pasta, meat and fish dishes. Particularly appetizing are the Funghi Nelitos – mushrooms stuffed with prawns in a garlic and brandy sauce, the large scallops in butter, garlic and wine and the Lobster with Linguini - a house special. You can see the full menu here . We sampled the Asparagus with Smoked Salmon and Prawn Salad to start, the Rack of Lamb for main course and the house Lasagne. Finishing the meal with apple pie and cinnamon ice cream and a glass of dessert wine was the perfect ending to an excellent meal. The service throughout and the presentation of each dish was impeccable

Worth particular mention is the Nelitos wine list, or book which is probably the more accurate term, containing over 30 pages, listing over 300 wines including some exclusive vintage ports. The wines are stored in the temperature controlled cellar and the Sommelier's assistance in choosing is invaluable. Nelitos hosts several Gourmet and Wine Tasting evenings during the year where you can enjoy a tasting menu of wonderful food and wine.

To just say Nelitos is an Italian restaurant does not do justice to either the food or the place. Nelitos is a restaurant of quality and elegance that serves wonderful Italian and International food.

  The perfect evening

  I have eaten in Nelitos a number of times and I just can't wait to go back. The staff are customer focused and show genuine interest in everyone. The food is nothing less than perfect and the wine fantastic. A beautiful restaurant with so much space - the perfect venue for a romantic meal or a evening with friends.

  We arrived on our first night in our casual clothes fresh from the airport but were still welcomed in we were so blown away with the service and staff and food that we returned everynight of our 7 day stay. Each night we tried a new dish and enjoyed the apetizers that the chefs created . This place is a dinning and culinary dream and anyone who thouroughly enjoys excellent attention to detail and the amazing compatablity of fine fresh ingredients must try this wonderful place. All the staff were knowlegable and polite and amazingly proffesional and by the end of our week we felt very sad on leaving but the wonderful owners manuel and linda, and the staff waved us off as if we were all great friends. We were there on our honeymoon and dinning in nelitos certainly added to the magical time and we would recomend this restaurantto anyone. our only slight problem is that sadly its not closer to home.

  Outstanding food, service and wine!

  We found this treasure, unexpectedly, whilst driving around looking for a bite to eat..and boy we are glad we did! The service, and friendliness of the staff was outstanding from the moment we entered the restaurant, the interior was impressive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what really made this experience was the food.. We started off with an appetizer, complimentary of the chef, then we went on to have the goats cheese for a starter.. it was delicious. For mains, my husband went for the steak, whilst I had the veal, and even down to the decor of the plate, it was perfection. The Sommelier recommended different wines for each dish, which he got to an absolute T, each glass (from their extensive list) complimented each bite! We finished off the meal with a lite but refreshing "champagne" sorbet ice cream. Would I recommend this restaurant - yes! We can not wait to return next year !!

  fine food, & service!

  We had a truly fabulous evening! Being newly weds, we were looking for something special, and Nelitos did not fail to deliver! It was recommended by a friend of my mothers, and although the location is off the road, and wasn’t the easiest place to find, the food, and wine were outstanding, whilst the friendly staff made us feel welcome and "special". We will definitely return again!

  We had a very pleasant evening here. The food was delicious, the portions generous and the Steak was by far the best I have ever had! The wine list seemed to go on forever.. but luckily, they had a Sommelier to help us pick our selection! For those wishing to sample Italian cuisine at its best, and dine in style - You must try this restaurant!
