Lagos Zoo Overview

With over 120 different species of animals and 200 botanical species, Lagos Zoo offers a fun and educational day out for the whole family.
Undoubtedly one of the main attractions is the primates, but the zoo is also home to lemurs, wallabies, lynxes, reptiles and tropical birds to name but a few! The petting zoo is also a firm favourite with children and adults alike.
The animal enclosures have been designed for the specific needs of each individual species and great care is taken to ensure the well being of all the animals housed at the zoo. The zoo’s philosophy is based around the principles of conserving, education and protecting and there is a classroom where children can watch a film about the environment and have fun drawing and painting the animals they have seen.
There is information on hand for those wanting to learn more about each species and, during peak season, keepers offer talks during feeding times and are happy to answer visitors’ questions. Feeding time is definitely one of the highlights of a day at the zoo and is not to be missed! You can watch the Cormorants and Pelicans being fed daily at 11:30am and 3:00pm and observe the antics of the primates during their feeding time at 4pm.
If you and your family are also in need of some light refreshments, Lagos Zoo has 2 snack bars to choose from within the grounds and the rustic, very reasonably priced Restaurant Cangalho just outside.
There are also 2 playgrounds for the kids to monkey around in!

    Wonderful day out!

    Sara Ginn from London

We took our little boy (20 months) and he thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the monkeys. Snack bars were reasonably priced. Staff throughout were friendly, helpful, and informative. All spoke good english. We went in March so it was wonderfully quiet. A must for all holiday-making families.
